The 1866 Proof Quarter Pattern - J-537 is a proof quarter pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It was struck from the regular 1866 Seated Liberty quarter dies, with the motto, so its design matches the regular coin; only the metal differs. Judd lists it in copper with a reeded edge, and USPatterns.com rates it R-7. Judd classes it as a die trial, a strike from regular dies in a metal other than the coin's own.
