The 1865 Proof Half Eagle Pattern - J-446 is a proof half eagle struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. This copper half eagle carries the IN GOD WE TRUST reverse adopted in 1866; about 20 are known, several gilt. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge; USPatterns rates it R-6.
