Description
Judd-396, Pollock-467, is the first of four 1864 proof dollar With Motto patterns (J-396 through J-399). These patterns continue the dollar denomination's contribution to the motto program, building on the four 1863 dollar patterns (J-345 through J-348). The Seated Liberty dollar's large reverse provided ample space for the motto, and these patterns test refined configurations of the text relative to the heraldic eagle. Struck in silver with proof finish.
Rarity Notes
Rarity-7. Approximately 5-10 specimens known. Dollar patterns are scarcer than half dollar or quarter patterns.
