Description

Judd-357, Pollock-428, is a proof cent pattern testing an additional die combination or alloy for the Indian Head cent. This variety extends the 1864 proof cent pattern series beyond the J-353/J-356 group, introducing new design elements or compositional experiments. The higher Judd numbers in the 1864 cent series (J-357 through J-362) may represent later experiments conducted after the initial bronze composition had been approved, testing refinements to the adopted design.
