Judd-354, Pollock-424, in proof is a companion to the business-strike J-354, struck with full proof finish to display the design in optimal quality. The 1864 cent patterns in both proof and business-strike formats provide an unusually complete record of the denomination's transition year. The proof versions were produced in smaller quantities than business strikes and were reserved for the most important recipients and collector sets.
