Description
The 1864 Cent Pattern - J-356b is a cent from the Philadelphia Mint, belonging to the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. It is a regular-die 1864 cent in copper-nickel on a thin planchet; on March 17, 1864, Mint Director James Pollock sent Treasury Secretary Chase four nickel cents of 48 grains as specimens of a reduced weight.
