Description
The 1863 Proof Cent Pattern - J-304 is a proof cent struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Civil War Patterns (1860-1865) series. This 1863 cent has Longacre's initial L on the ribbon, which the regular cent first carried in 1864; USPatterns describes these as backdated pieces made around 1869 to 1871 for sets with the In God We Trust coins.
