Description
This dollar piece, dated 1863, is BG-1307A in the Breen-Gillio catalogue: a restrike of a later copy, not a California piece of the 1852-1882 period. Herman Kroll made copies of California fractional gold around 1906, apparently with some of the original tooling (Locke 2013); PCGS (search) places him in New York. A restrike of BG-1307, dated 1863 (Locke 2013). Catalogue number: BG-1307A (Breen-Gillio). PCGS number 516783.
