Description
This half dollar piece, dated 1858, is BG-1323 in the Breen-Gillio catalogue, in the BG-1300 group of later pieces that follows the genuine California fractional gold. The BG-1300 numbers follow the genuine Period One and Period Two pieces in Breen-Gillio and include copies, restrikes and imitations made after the period (Locke 2013). No source read describes BG-1323 individually; the BG-1300 numbers that sources do describe are later copies and restrikes (Locke 2013). PCGS lists BG-1323 as a 50-cent piece; Greysheet lists it among the dollars. Catalogue number: BG-1323 (Breen-Gillio). PCGS number 516795.
