Description
1837 WMPD-001 is a misplaced date on an 1837 Seated Liberty half dime, listed by Wexler as 1837 H10¢ WMPD-001. A strong third punching of the 8 lies well south of the primary 8, struck into the denticles, which is what makes it a misplaced date. The same obverse die is Wexler's WRPD-001: the 1, 3 and 7 are repunched to the south and the 8 to the southwest. Wexler cross-references it as Valentine 1, Flynn MPD-001 and Breen 3007; no submitter is noted and photos are still needed. Valentine 1 is a Large Date die: a Stack's Bowers description of a Valentine-1 Large Date half dime reports triple punching below the 8 and the 1 and 37 repunched south.
