A cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1835 Matron Head Coronet Head Cent - Small 8, Stars belongs to the Matron Head Coronet Head Cents 1816-1835 series. Philadelphia struck 3.9 million cents dated 1835 in total; the Small 8, Stars share is unknown. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, with stars around the border, and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing ONE CENT. Minted during the age of Jacksonian democracy. Struck in copper, weighing 10.89 grams, 28 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1717.
