About This Coin
The 1825 Classic Head Half Cent is a United States half cent from the Classic Head Half Cents 1809-1836 series. The Mint reported 63,000 half cents for 1825, a calendar-year figure that can include coins with other dates. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. After a gap with no half cents dated 1812 to 1824, production resumed in 1825. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Designed by John Reich.
