Description
The 1825 Classic Head Half Cent is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Head Half Cents 1809-1836 series. With a mintage of 63,000, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a fillet or headband inscribed LIBERTY and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT. After a 14-year gap (1812-1824), half cent production resumed with the Classic Head design. Estimated market value ranges from $100 to $2.2K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 5.44 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1141.
