The 1815 Die Trial is a United States coin from the Die Trials, Hub Trials, and Splashers 1792-1982 series — an early issue, 7th of 39 years in the series. The obverse features test impressions from coin dies, ranging from fully detailed to partial impressions and the reverse displays test impressions that may be blank, partial, or paired with unrelated dies (mules). Struck during a period of national unity and westward expansion following the War of 1812, as the U.S. grew in confidence and territory. A notable auction result reached $2.9K in AU50BN grade at Stack's Bowers. Designed by Various Mint engravers.
