Description

The 1795 Liberty Cap Right Half Cent - Lettered Edge is a cent produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Liberty Cap Right Half Cents 1794-1797 series. The U.S. Mint produced 139,690 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 25% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT and 1/200. Multiple die varieties including the Lettered Edge, Plain Edge, and Punctuated Date types. One of the more available dates. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $666 to $11K depending on grade and condition. Struck in copper, weighing 6.74 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered: two hundred for a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1009.
