Description
A half cent from the Philadelphia Mint, the 1795 Liberty Cap Right Half Cent - Lettered Edge belongs to the Liberty Cap Right Half Cents 1794-1797 series. The 139,690 figure is for every 1795 half cent, lettered and plain edges together; the Lettered Edge share of it is unknown. It counts coins dated 1795, drawn from the Mint's deliveries of 142,534 for 1793-1795 and 115,480 for calendar 1796. The obverse features Liberty facing right with a Phrygian cap on a pole behind her head and the reverse displays a wreath enclosing HALF CENT and 1/200. Multiple die varieties including the Lettered Edge, Plain Edge, and Punctuated Date types. Struck in copper, weighing 6.74 grams, 23.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered: two hundred for a dollar edge. Cataloged as PCGS #1009.
