Description
The 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar - 3 Leaves is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Flowing Hair Dollars 1794-1795 series. The U.S. Mint produced 160,295 examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 48% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars and the reverse displays a small, naturalistic eagle perched on a palm branch within a wreath within a wreath. Second and final Flowing Hair Dollar. Much higher mintage (approximately 160,295) makes it the type coin of choice. Multiple die varieties exist. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $6.3K to $1839K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 27 grams, 40 mm in diameter, with a lettered: hundred cents one dollar or unit edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6852.
