Description

The 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar - Silver Plug is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Flowing Hair Dollars 1794-1795 series. With a mintage of 16,029, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 5% of total production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars and the reverse displays a small, naturalistic eagle perched on a palm branch within a wreath within a wreath. Second and final Flowing Hair Dollar. Much higher mintage (approximately 160,295) makes it the type coin of choice. Multiple die varieties exist. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 27 grams, 40 mm in diameter, with a lettered: hundred cents one dollar or unit edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6854.
