Description
The 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dime - Special Strike is part of the Flowing Hair Half Dimes 1794-1795 series. No record was kept of how many 1794 half dimes were struck as specimens. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars and the reverse displays a small eagle standing on a rock or cloud within a wreath of olive branches. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Weighing 1.35 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #84250.
