Description

The 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dime is part of the Flowing Hair Half Dimes 1794-1795 series. With a mintage of 7,756, this is a rare issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 100% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars and the reverse displays a small, naturalistic eagle perched on a palm branch within a wreath. Produced during the earliest years of the United States Mint, when the young republic was establishing its monetary system and coinage traditions. Estimated market value ranges from $2.2K to $39K depending on grade and condition. Weighing 1.35 grams, 16.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #4250.
