1791 Token 1/2P Liverpool - Pewter Half Penny
Strike Type
Coin Details
Description
A 1791 Washington Liverpool halfpenny token struck in pewter. Pewter (tin-lead alloy) is an unusual composition for this type, as most Liverpool halfpennies were struck in copper. The pewter version has a distinctive gray appearance and softer feel compared to copper. Pewter Washington Liverpool halfpennies are considerably rarer than their copper counterparts and are prized by colonial specialists.
Rarity Notes
Very rare. Pewter Liverpool halfpennies are much scarcer than copper.
