Description

A 1783 Nova Constellatio silver pattern for 5 units, called a "Quint." This was the smallest denomination in Gouverneur Morris's proposed decimal series. The Quint was intended as a minor coin for small transactions. Like all Nova Constellatio patterns, it features the constellation design with an eye of providence, rays, and thirteen stars. Extremely few examples survive.
