Description
A counterfeit British halfpenny produced at Machin's Mills in Newburgh, New York, bearing the fictitious date 1775. These imitation George III halfpennies were struck by Thomas Machin and associates, who operated under cover of a state copper coinage license. The 1775 date was chosen to appear as a legitimate British coin.
