Description

The standard issue American Plantation 1/24 Real, a tin token authorized by King James II in 1688 for use in the American colonies. Produced under a royal patent granted to Richard Holt, with dies engraved by John Roettier at the Royal Mint. The obverse features James II on horseback and the reverse shows four crowned shields of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland. This is the most commonly encountered variety of the series, though still scarce in all grades due to the softness of tin.

Rarity Notes

R.4 to R.5. Most survivors well-circulated due to softness of tin.
