1980 P & D Lincoln Cent - Repetitive 9 o'clock Ghost - Die Bounce Failure?

Unidentified Fascinating Oddity

Hello specialists,

I need opinion on a repetitive error I found on 1980 P & D Lincoln Cents.

I have 3 coins of my own, P and D mint, with IDENTICAL error at 9 o'clock position - ghost nose, double chin and neck line. Same position, same shape, same forward shift on all 3.

Plus a 4th example in better condition published on Facebook error group showing the same RED GHOST face at 9 o'clock, used here for comparison.

Some collectors called it circulation damage / hits and dings, but I was advised this very likely could be mechanical doubling where the bust bounces forward when the die bounces/slides - a failure mechanism in the die, similar to die clash. If the same pattern repeats across years and mints, it may be worth researching.

My 3 coins are P & D, so 2 different mints, same ghost. Random damage would not repeat identically.

Photos attached:

- Obverse of each coin

- Close-up 9 o'clock with side light (shows raised, not incuse)

- Side-by-side comparison of all 4

Is this a repetitive mechanical doubling / die failure mechanism worth cataloging?

Thank you for your time.

Zeljko
