Description
The 2026 (W) American Palladium Eagle is a burnished platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Palladium Eagles 2017 to Date series. The obverse features young Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, symbolizing freedom of thought — often called the "Mercury" dime despite not depicting the Roman god — Adolph Weinman's Mercury Dime design adapted for the palladium program and the reverse displays an eagle with wings raised, grasping an olive branch, adapted from Weinman's 1907 American Institute of Architects medal. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. This burnished specimen was struck on specially prepared planchets that were individually fed into the coining press, producing a distinctive smooth, matte finish different from standard business strikes.
