Description

This clad medal features Wonder Woman from the United States Mint's Comic Art Coin and Medal Collection, produced in the same half-dollar-sized format used for the program's base metal offerings. Wonder Woman (Diana, Princess of Themyscira) first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941), created by William Moulton Marston and H.G. Peter. Wonder Woman is an Amazon warrior princess from the hidden island of Themyscira, sent as an ambassador to the world of humanity. Created during World War II by psychologist William Moulton Marston, Diana was conceived as a distinctly feminist hero whose strength comes from love and compassion rather than violence alone. Armed with her indestructible bracelets, Lasso of Truth, and powers granted by the Greek gods, Wonder Woman has been a symbol of female empowerment and one of DC Comics' most iconic characters for over eight decades. The obverse portrays Wonder Woman with her shield and Lasso of Truth, reflecting peace and equality, captured in the vivid comic art style of the program. The reverse features the iconic Wonder Woman emblem. This clad medal matches the specifications of a United States half dollar in composition (8.33% nickel, balance copper), diameter (30.61 mm / 1.205 inches), and weight (11.340 grams). It features a plain edge and is not legal tender. The clad medal is sold exclusively as part of the Comic Art Three-Medal Set alongside the other 2025 characters (Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman). No individual sales or fixed mintage limits have been announced. The clad medal format makes the Comic Art program accessible to the widest possible audience, with base metal composition keeping the price point affordable for casual collectors, fans, and younger audiences. Wonder Woman completed the inaugural 2025 trio of the Comic Art program with her November 13, 2025 release, representing a milestone as the first female character in the series. The United States Mint's Comic Art Coin and Medal Program represents the first major collaboration between the federal mint and a comic book publisher, bringing DC Comics' legendary characters to official U.S. numismatic products. Each character is offered across multiple formats from gold proof coins to affordable clad medals, serving collectors at every level. The half-dollar-sized clad medals provide a compact and affordable entry into the Comic Art collection, preserving the same designs as their precious metal counterparts in an accessible format.
