Description

The 2024 (W) Proof Palladium Twenty Five Dollar is a proof platinum coin struck at the West Point Mint, part of the American Palladium Eagles 2017 to Date series. With a mintage of 5,955, this is a rare issue. The obverse features young Liberty wearing a winged Phrygian cap, symbolizing freedom of thought — often called the "Mercury" dime despite not depicting the Roman god — Adolph Weinman's Mercury Dime design adapted for the palladium program and the reverse displays an eagle with wings raised, grasping an olive branch, adapted from Weinman's 1907 American Institute of Architects medal. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Estimated market value is approximately $2.8K. Struck in 99.95% palladium, weighing 31.1 grams, 34.03 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #965895.
