Description
The 2024 (P) Proof Greatest Generation Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 38,929 proof Greatest Generation dollars dated 2024. The obverse shows six figures, for the armed services and the Merchant Marine, holding up the Earth and the reverse four eagles holding a wreath inside a canopy of the National World War II Memorial. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #936838.
