Description
The 2024 Flowing Hair Silver Medal - 230th Anniversary is a medal produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the U.S. Mint Medals series. With a mintage of 48,131, this is a scarce issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 96% of production. The obverse features Liberty facing right with flowing hair, surrounded by stars — faithfully reproduced from the original 1794 design and the reverse displays a small, naturalistic eagle perched on a palm branch within a wreath within a wreath, reproduced from the original Flowing Hair dollar. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 31.1 grams, 40.6 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #961736.
