The 2023 (S) Reverse Proof Morgan Dollar is a reverse proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the 1921 Silver Dollar Anniversary Coins (2021 to Date) series. The San Francisco Mint struck 247,820 reverse proof Morgan dollars dated 2023, all sold in two-coin sets. The obverse features Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with wheat and cotton, encircled by stars and the reverse displays an eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by a wreath. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. This reverse proof inverts the usual proof finish, with frosted fields and mirror-like design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
