Description
The 2022 (P) Negro Leagues Baseball Dollar is a commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Philadelphia Mint struck 8,448 uncirculated Negro Leagues Baseball dollars dated 2022. Authorized to honor the Negro Leagues, which operated from 1920 to the early 1960s after African American players were barred from Major League Baseball. The obverse features a pitcher in mid-throw with the baseball looming larger as it approaches the viewer, with stitching as the border, while the reverse shows a pitch arriving at the catcher, seen from the batter's position. Designed by Matt Swaim and Eric David Custer (obverse), Don Everhart and Craig A. Campbell (reverse). Struck in 99.9% silver, 38.1 mm in diameter. Cataloged as PCGS #904294.
