Description
The 2021 (S) Proof Native American Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 820,788 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 13% of total production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2021 Native American Dollar honors the distinguished record of Native Americans serving in every branch of the U.S. military since the American Revolution. The reverse features two eagle feathers and five stars for the five military branches. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $10. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #861689.
