Description

The 2021 (D) Native American Dollar - Position A, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint coined 1.3 million Native American dollars at Denver in 2021 across both edge positions; how many show Position A is not recorded. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2021 Native American Dollar honors the distinguished record of Native Americans serving in every branch of the U.S. military since the American Revolution. The reverse features two eagle feathers and five stars for the five military branches. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #862101.
