Description
The 2020 (P) Proof Basketball Hall of Fame Dollar is a proof dollar from the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 68,778 proof Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame dollars dated 2020. The coin is curved: three players reaching for the ball on the obverse and a ball passing through the net on the reverse. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #812980.
