Description

The 2019 (W) War in the Pacific National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the West Point Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay during the fight for Guam's liberation. The park preserves battlefields and sites from the Pacific Theater of World War II, including the Japanese occupation and liberation of Guam.
