Description
The 2019 (W) San Antonio Missions National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the West Point Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only 20% of total production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse incorporates elements of the Spanish Colonial Real coin with symbols of the missions: wheat, arches and a bell, a lion, and the San Antonio River. The park preserves four 18th-century Spanish frontier missions, the largest concentration of colonial missions in North America. Lowell (MA), American Memorial (MP), War in the Pacific (GU), San Antonio Missions (TX), and Frank Church River of No Return (ID) were released. American Memorial Park (Northern Mariana Islands) honored WWII Pacific Theater veterans. Struck at the West Point Mint, originally a bullion depository that became a full coin production facility, specializing in commemorative and bullion issues. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $30 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #718004.
