Description

Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 2019 (P) American Innovation Dollar - Georgia, Position B is part of the American Innovation Dollars 2018 to Date series. The obverse features a profile of the Statue of Liberty with a small stylized gear privy mark, and the reverses honor innovations and innovators from each state, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories. This coin commemorates the 1733 Trustees' Garden in Savannah — one of America's first agricultural experimental gardens, which tested crops including orange trees, sassafras, grapes, and peach trees for colonial viability. First year of state-by-state releases honoring Delaware (classifying the stars — Annie Jump Cannon), Pennsylvania (polio vaccine — Jonas Salk), New Jersey (the light bulb — Thomas Edison), and Georgia (the Trustees' Garden, America's first agricultural experimental garden).
