Description

Part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series, the 2019 (P) War in the Pacific 5 oz Silver Quarter is a quarter from the Philadelphia Mint. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites — struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse shows American troops landing at Asan Bay during the fight to liberate Guam. Inscriptions: WAR IN THE PACIFIC, GUAM, 2019 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The park preserves battlefields and sites from the Pacific Theater of World War II, including the Japanese occupation and liberation of Guam. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value is approximately $113. Struck in 99.9% silver, weighing 155.52 grams, 76.2 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #800574.
