The 2018 (P) Burnished Pictured Rocks National Park 5 oz Silver Quarter is a special strike quarter struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the 5 oz. America the Beautiful Silver Quarters 2010 to Date series. With a mintage of 17,598, this is a scarce issue β ranked 4th of 5 mint variants by mintage, with 12% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites β struck in 5 ounces of .999 fine silver at a massive 76.2mm diameter. The reverse depicts Chapel Rock with the iconic white pine tree atop its sandstone pillar. Pictured Rocks stretches 42 miles along Lake Superior's shore, featuring multicolored sandstone cliffs rising up to 200 feet. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry.
