Description
The 2017 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Enhanced Uncirculated is an enhanced uncirculated nickel struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Jefferson Nickels Return to Monticello 2006 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 223,310 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing forward in a three-quarter view, the first forward-facing portrait on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays Monticello in a refined depiction. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. This enhanced uncirculated coin features multiple finish techniques applied to different areas of the design, combining proof, frosted, and standard finishes to create a unique multi-textured appearance. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $7 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.2 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #631118.
