Description
The 2017 (S) Jefferson Nickel - Enhanced Uncirculated is an enhanced uncirculated nickel struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Jefferson Nickels Return to Monticello 2006 to Date series. The obverse shows Jamie Franki's forward-facing portrait of Thomas Jefferson in a three-quarter view, introduced in 2006 as the first U.S. circulating coin portrait of a president facing forward, and the reverse shows Felix Schlag's Monticello, restored by John Mercanti. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. This enhanced uncirculated coin features multiple finish techniques applied to different areas of the design, combining proof, frosted, and standard finishes to create a unique multi-textured appearance. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel, weighing 5 grams, 21.21 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #631118.
