The U.S. Mint produced 200 million examples, making this ranked 10th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 9% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts Alley Mill, a historic steel roller mill built in 1894. Ozark National Scenic Riverways protects 134 miles of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, the first national park area to protect a river system. Effigy Mounds (IA), Frederick Douglass (DC), Ozark Riverways (MO), Ellis Island (NJ), and George Rogers Clark (IN) were honored. Frederick Douglass was the first non-site coin, honoring the abolitionist at his Washington D.C. historic site. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $1 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #625519.
