Description
The 2013 (S) Proof White Mountain National Park Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 989,803 examples, making this ranked 10th of 25 mint variants by mintage, with less than 1% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts Mount Chocorua framed by birch trees. White Mountain National Forest encompasses over 800,000 acres of rugged mountain terrain, hardwood and boreal forests, and alpine zones. White Mountain (NH), Perry's Victory (OH), Great Basin (NV), Fort McHenry (MD), and Mount Rushmore (SD) were released. The Mount Rushmore quarter was among the most popular issues in the series. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $26 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #516823.
