Description
The 2013 (D) Native American Dollar - Position B is a dollar minted at the Denver Mint, within the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint gives 1.8 million as the mintage for the entire 2013-D Native American dollar issue; the edge lettering was applied after striking, and Position B coins were never counted separately. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2013 Native American Dollar commemorates the 1778 Treaty with the Delawares, the first formal treaty between the United States and a Native American nation. The reverse features a turkey, turtle, and wolf representing the three Delaware clans. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #518109.
