Description
The 2012 (P) Star-Spangled Banner Dollar is a commemorative dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Philadelphia Mint struck 41,679 uncirculated Star-Spangled Banner dollars dated 2012. Authorized to celebrate the bicentennial of the Star-Spangled Banner, the flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem during the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor on September 13-14, 1814. The obverse features lady Liberty waving the 15-star, 15-stripe Star-Spangled Banner flag, with Fort McHenry in the background, while the reverse displays a waving modern American flag. Designed by Joel Iskowitz/William C. Burgard III. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #511496.
