The 2011 (D) Presidential Dollar - Rutherford B. Hayes, Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 36.8 million examples, making this ranked 9th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 9% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The nineteenth President (1877–1881), Rutherford B. Hayes won one of the most disputed elections in American history, decided by a special electoral commission just days before inauguration. He is credited with bringing the first telephone to the White House.
