Andrew Johnson, Grant, Hayes, and Garfield were released ā the final year Presidential Dollars were produced for general circulation. A government audit found over $1 billion in unwanted dollar coins stockpiled in Federal Reserve vaults. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #506508.
