Description

The 2010 (W) Proof Disabled Veterans Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the West Point Mint, part of the Modern Commemorative Dollars (1982-Date) series. The West Point Mint struck 202,970 proof American Veterans Disabled for Life dollars dated 2010. The obverse shows the legs and boots of three veterans and the reverse a forget-me-not at the foot of a wreath of oak branches. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the West Point Mint, originally a bullion depository that became a full coin production facility, specializing in commemorative and bullion issues. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #417754.
