Description

The 2010 (D) Satin Finish Lincoln Shield Cent is a special strike cent struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Lincoln Shield Cents 2010 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 583,897 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 5 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays a Union shield with a scroll banner reading ONE CENT, symbolizing Lincoln's preservation of the Union. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Auction record: $996 SP69RD 02-12-2018 eBay. Struck in 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams, 19 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #416677.
