Description
The 2009 (P) Satin Finish Presidential Dollar - William Henry Harrison, Position B is a special strike dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 784,614 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 40 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The ninth President (1841), William Henry Harrison holds the distinction of serving the shortest presidency in American history — just 31 days — after dying of pneumonia contracted during his inauguration. His two-hour inaugural address remains the longest in presidential history. William Henry Harrison, Tyler, Polk, and Taylor were released. "In God We Trust" moved from the edge to the obverse, ending the "Godless Dollar" controversy. Production remained high for circulation. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Auction record: $260 SP69 08-09-2021 eBay. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #407381.
