The 2009 (S) Proof Lincoln Cent - Professional Life is a proof cent struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Lincoln Bicentennial Cents 2009 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 2,995,615 Professional Life proof cents dated 2009. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse shows Lincoln as a young professional standing before the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, the Professional Life in Illinois design, one of four reverses issued in 2009 for the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
